We needed a quick meal before catching the bus and this ramen shop was the perfect spot. It's small, but not cramped and the decor transports you to Japan. Service was speedy, starting with kirin beer on tap served in a chilled glass (much appreciated on a blazing summer day). We both got the tan tan men - the spicy broth was flavorful without being overpowering, the pork was thinly sliced and perfectly cooked, and a generous portion of chewy noodles. To top it off, the prices were very reasonable. No complaints about this experience!
This is more of a traditional restaurant. No J-pop music or funky decor. I had the Black King ramen and was great. The minced pork and squid was an excellent touch. Food came out fast. The staff was nice. The gyoza was good but the only critique I have was the sweet sauce that was drizzled over the gyoza. Let the flavor of the gyoza stand on its own with the dipping sauce on the side. The funky glaze was off-putting. No specialty cocktails. If you're looking for a more funky and hip environment, try Kin Ramen just up the street.
It's my first time here. The food was good, I think the portion is really worth the price, also the service staff were friendly.
It's amazing how every other time I go to this place... it's either changed ownership, menu or something is different, lol! Went back after a subpar experience because my coworker and friend told me they went 2 wks ago and it was good. I must say I was very pleasantly surprised. The Tonkotsu was very tasty. Had the ramen/rice bowl combo. Very filling and satisfying. The wait staff was very welcoming and friendly. The place continues to be sorta too dim for my liking, but their food and service has definitely improved.
Solid ramen spot near Central Park. The tonkotsu broth was tasty and I had the mochi ice cream too. Service was nice. Make sure you make a reservation for a Saturday night.
If I could swim in the bone broth here, I would! It's that good. Not overly salty and perfectly balanced for their tonkatsu ramen bowls. And the noodles are a nice firmness to help carry that flavor and give your pallette something to think about! They also have a robust appetizer list and some other entrees but I would stick with the ramen if it's your first time. It's one of the better bowls in Manhattan. The service is quick and polite, even though the place gets packed especially during lunch and after work. That's midtown life. And the prices are not cheap but fair for this area of Manhattan! Even better, the bathroom is clean and pretty spacious. Food: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Value: 4/5
I came here with a group of 7. We were seated quickly. For a Monday night, the restaurant wasn't crowded. The waitress was very attentive to us. I ordered the Miso ramen with black garlic oil. There is nothing like slurping a bowl of hot ramen on a cold night. The broth was very flavorful and it wasn't very salty. It was perfect. If you plan to get the Kirin Ichiban beer, I recommend ordering the pitcher. The cost is $7 for one bottle. It makes sense to pay $8 more to get pitcher that you can share with others. They were nice to give us 4 mochi balls on the house. I recommend their dishes and the ambiance is nice. As my friend said "it is nice that we can hear each other and the music isn't blasting."
Good noodles. The mapo tofu is pretty good, came with soft tofu and not too spicy. Obviously not real mapo, but delicious nonetheless. We had the black, miso and sea king ramen. The meat was delicious, full of flavors. The noodles were tender, but the soup was too salty. Having that said, food was great and good for the price.
*3.5/5 Decent ramen - perfect for a chilly day. Ambience was cute & well-decorated, although there was an odd musty smell in the restaurant. Service was very friendly. My tonkotsu ramen was middle of the line as far as ramens go. The broth was decent but nothing to write home about, pork was a bit dry, noodles were nicely al dente. Not a standout bowl by any regard but not bad for a try!
